The aim of the Hackney condom distribution scheme (CDS) is to increase the uptake of condoms through developing a system for effective distribution to young people who do not usually access services. The scheme contributes to the reduction in unwanted teenage pregnancy and the incidence of STIs amongst young people in the borough and supporst local health agencies through increasing access to free condoms in around 40 young people accessible centres. The database system is web-based, both for universal access and for scalability. Entry to the system is controlled by individual user name and password. It has a range of user levels and privileges, depending on need-to-know access to information, and a range of reports to enable management to monitor the system. It is built on the Windows 2000 server platform, coded in ASP and using a SQL Server database at the back end. |
